Shawn Stingel is not only dreaming to make it big as a male fitness model. He is diligently and aggressively pursuing his dream and is making it happen! It is typical for him to be excited about things, and milestones in his career definitely keeps his spirits up. Chronically optimistic, Shawn has an inner greatness that has brought him success even as a new entrant to the industry. He says that “he never expected to be this far along in my modeling career after only one year!”

Asked where he sees himself in five years, Shawn envisions himself to soon provide guidance and mentoring to aspiring models. “One aspect of modeling I’ve learned is that we work under a reciprocal industry. Photographers and models alike appreciate receiving feedback on their portfolios. This exchange of criticism is extremely important to one’s success.” He hopes to educate young models to appreciate other people’s work and make them realize that though they are a subject or  main bearer of an image, brand or campaign, it’s not just about them. Shawn cites that when going through a critique of an artistic work, “there are many individuals who don’t understand this process.” As Shawn gains experience in the industry, he absorbs as much as he can, preparing himself to one day give back to the future generation of models and industry professionals.

Shawn loves the feeling of receiving the final images of a shoot. The experience, according to him is like that of a “kid opening a present under the tree – you don’t know exactly what to expect.” Like many other models, Shawn shares to all his friends, family and network the new images he receives. He considers his friends and family as those people who inspire him. However, he has to wait for the initial excitement to settle in, or in other words, “he needs to calm down first” before he actually shows a product of his work to anyone! As soon as he gets into that state he goes all over the social web- Facebook and Model Mayhem particularly, and for a few directly via e-mail, to showcase his work. “They enjoy seeing me progress and succeed through this industry!” Aside from family and friends, Shawn is inspired by other models’ work as well. “I frequently browse through other model’s portfolios, providing feedback and sharing my admiration for their work. Appreciating other people’s accomplishments fuels my desire to be a better model.”

By drawing his inspiration from the right sources, having a mindset of giving back and passionately working hard for what he wants to accomplish, Shawn is living a lifestyle on track to success. He shares that “friends, family, and other models of the industry have shaped my modeling career as it today,” a career whose direction is nowhere else but up and whose potential is limitless. It maybe true that his inspiration have shaped his career, but I would figure that Shawn forgot to say – that it is also his determination, aggressiveness and passion in what he does that has turned him from a newbie to a cover model in a short span of time.
