Jason Jaskot

Bosnia-born Daniel Zukich had a recent photos shoot with one of NYC’s best fitness photographers, Jason Jaskot. Jason was kind enough to introduce us to Daniel who was able to successfully prepare for this shoot with the help of fitness company, Eat The Bear, the official sponsor of MFM Cover Model Jeff Grant.

MFM Editor Caleb Galaraga talks to Daniel and asks him seven basic questions that will help us get to know more of the up and coming male fitness model!

Give us a little background about yourself – where are you from? What do you do? Where do you live?

My name is Daniel Zukich and I just turned 22 last March 27th. I was born in Bosnia and moved to the United States when I was eight years old. I currently live in Owego, which is 20 minutes outside of Binghamton, NY. I’m currently a senior at Binghamton University studying Economics and I’m also a personal trainer.

What motivates you to do training and bodybuilding?

I was always playing sports as a kid and when I graduated high school I wanted to be on the track team and throw discus for Binghamton University. That was my first real motivation to start training on a daily basis and become as strong as possible in order to make the team. As I was noticing muscle gains quickly I decided to push myself even further even though I had already made the team. Now it has become a part of my everyday life and I incorporate everything I do around my training so I’m sure I never miss a day. I set a goal and aim to achieve it, anything else is failure.

How did you hear or got into modeling? What specific steps are you taking to become a fitness model?

Last summer I had my first photo shoot with my neighbor who had a studio in her house. After putting some pictures on facebook I received attention from Jason Jaskot who is a photographer in NYC. After talking with him for several months, I decided to go down to the city last month and have my first professional photo shoot with him with the support of ETB fitness. Currently I am in contact with an agency and am working hard to put on some solid muscle to get my weight up. I am planning on doing many shoots this summer.

Amongst the more established male fitness models, who do you look up to?

Greg Plitt would have to be the one I look up to the most. He is very established in many different aspects of the fitness modeling world and is very unique when it comes to his workouts.

What would be a dream modeling gig for you?

Since basketball has been my first real passion since I was little I would have to say that my dream modeling gig would have to be doing a shoot and or a commercial with an NBA star such as Kobe or Lebron in a Nike ad.

Where do you see yourself a year from now, in terms of your aspirations as a model, as a personal trainer and simply as Daniel Zukich?

In a year from now I see myself finished with school with a degree in my hand. In terms of modeling I see myself expanding my portfolio with many different photographers and clients as well as getting my name out there and receiving more exposure in the world of fitness modeling. I would like to wake up and know I have been featured in a fitness/muscle magazine with my own personal training tips to help all those who seek it. Finally, in terms of myself a year from now, I will be doing what makes me happy and is my passion and that is being a fitness model and personal trainer who is doing everything possible to help others achieve their goals.

Mike Comandini’s discovery and entry into fitness modeling was almost an orchestrated process, rooted in his passion for what he considers “individualistic challenges” where he can control the outcome. As a football and wrestler up until high-school, he has been strength training and lifting, spending hours on his own finding ways on how he can be more effective in making himself fit and strong. This passion eventually led him to do personal training, using it as a platform for him to share his interest and knowledge in living a healthy life.

One of his personal training clients suggested he tried modeling and after a shoot with a reputable photographer, MFM Contributing Photographer and esteemed in the industry, Jason Jaskot caught his images, which was then submitted to Silver Model Management. Today, Mike is a signed male fitness model, where he now finds an opportunity to appreciate all his hard work.
