There are some words that is better said by the model I’m featuring, so with no further ado, below is Tyler’s story on how he began fitness modeling, his current endeavors and plans for the feature! Thanks for Jamie Watling, Michael Ching and Greg Tjepkema for these fantastic images of Tyler!

Tyler Sarry

I got started in fitness modeling back in 2004 after I won my first fitness model competition. I had competed in the same show the year prior and placed 5th, but after seeing myself on video, I knew I had a lot of improving to do. After this show I had my first photo shoot lined up and that is what sparked my fitness career! For the next 5 years competing and modeling was a regular occurrence. It was in 2008 that I competed in over 10 shows (in one year)! Which isn’t easy on your mind or body, but I pushed through and then in 2009 won the ultimate title of Mr. Model Universe with Muscle Mania. This was one of the biggest highlights of my career as it was the biggest show which had athletes from all over the world.

I have not competed since then as I have been more focused on my personal training services and website (AKA trying to make money instead of spending!) As the “fitness model” title is not exactly a full time occupation that puts money in your pocket. I think a lot of people think they will make it BIG and make a lot of money but then somewhere down the line realize it doesn’t come quick or easy and give up! My mentality is that I worked out from the age of 16 for the love and feeling I get from it and always will, so any opportunities that arise along the way I am grateful for.

With all this said I did recently decide (well about 65% lol) to compete in my first bodybuilding show with my long time friend and training partner Joshua McKaye in the near future. It will be interesting as we are around the same weight and height with different frames. So some intense hardcore training along with some VLOGS will more than likely be on my youtube page soon showing our progress.
